The month that was: January & February

It’s been a busy start to the year for Montefiore’s residents, with concerts and art on the agenda, as well as joyful celebrations for Tu Bishvat and Purim. Plus, check out the latest Spotlight Session with Prof. Henry Brodaty AO, 2026 Senior Australian of the Year.

Let’s have a party

Hunters Hill residents had a fabulous afternoon with a concert from our very own Elvis impersonator. A fantastic time was had by all singing along to some classic songs.

Artistic endeavours

Randwick residents have been busy bringing to life some beautiful works of art, inspired by nature, history, and Jewish culture, with some resident artist creating artwork for Montefiore’s Pesach celebrations. If you’re attending one of our Seder dinners, you can take a look at their beautiful art on the menus each night!

A special gift from Kids Cottage ELC

Hunters Hill residents have loved spending time with some of our littlest visitors from Kids Cottage ELC, as part of our intergenerational playgroup program. They recently gifted residents this beautiful thank you book, featuring photos and artwork from the children.

Intergenerational engagement is important for both older people and children, providing key emotional and socialisation benefits. It’s a highlight for so many of our residents, and we thank everyone at Kids Cottage for this wonderful gift.

Celebrating Tu Bishvat

Montefiore celebrated Tu Bishvat in February, the new year of the trees. On this day we honoured the rebirth of nature and the blossoming of new trees across the land. Residents at Randwick, Hunters Hill, and Woollahra marked the day with tree planting ceremonies.

Chag Purim Sameach!

Montefiore celebrated Purim, one of the most fun-filled and joyful Jewish holidays. Residents, staff, and families celebrated with the traditional Megillah Readings, baking  and eating delicious Hamantaschen, live music, dancing, and packing and giving of Mishloach Manot.
