Our Board

Renée Symonds

Renee is a Clinical Psychologist and holds a degree in Education. Renee was elected to the Board in 2001 after having been an active member of the Operations Committee.

In her years as a Board Member, Renee has written several papers, presented at conferences on aspects of ageing and Dementia. Staff education is her passion and the ability to translate difficult concepts of care and the psychological aspects of aging, especially for Holocaust Survivors has been a primary focus for Renee.

Together with Janine Grossman, Renee co-wrote the Montefiore Holocaust Awareness Program which educates staff in what it means to work with our Survivors, and their unique care requirements.

The Program has been awarded two Government awards to date. Renee is also a member of the Quality and Safety and Risk Committee where her work continues.

A recent addition to Renee’s contribution to the home has been the inception of Family Support Groups. This program includes both Hunters Hill and Randwick sites. The aim is to address the needs of families who have loved ones in our dementia units.
