Lisa Spira

Lisa Spira is a Registered Nurse with more than 30 years’ experience and currently works as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the Operating Theatre Department at Prince of Wales Private Hospital, as well as at the University of Notre Dame and the University of Technology in the role of Clinical Nurse Educator.

Lisa is a Director of charity Smiles for ME, an organisation sending doctors and registered nurses on surgical missions to the Philippines to operate on children with craniofacial deformities, in particular, cleft lips and palates. Lisa has participated in 11 missions in a clinical role and is a member of the steering committee planning all aspects of deploying an overseas surgical mission. She has assisted in more than 1,000 operations on children in remote areas of the Philippines.

Lisa is committed to Montefiore and, in 2000, took a year’s leave of absence from nursing to act as Coordinator of the Montefiore Home Capital Appeal. The appeal was highly successful, raising $6.8 million.

Lisa joined the Board of Management of Montefiore Home in 2001 and served for 10 years before taking a short break and rejoining the Board in 2012. During her tenure, she sat on two Board committees – the Community Relations and the Operations & Quality committees – where she was able to use her vast nursing experience and knowledge of Montefiore in the management and planning of care for the residents. Lisa rejoined the Operations & Quality Committee in 2012.
