Montefiore is expanding our speech pathology service and therefore seeking to appoint an additional Speech Pathologist to join our dedicated and extensive onsite team of Allied Health professionals.
The role:
Montefiore is growing its speech pathology service and is recruiting an additional Speech Pathologist to join a large onsite Allied Health team of more than 120 professionals across 13 disciplines.
You will step into a busy service where you can shape how communication and swallowing care is delivered across three campuses, in close partnership with experienced dietitians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and other allied health colleagues.
The position offers the rare combination of stable residential caseloads, interdisciplinary collaboration and genuine influence on service development and education.
What you will be doing:
- Provide one day per week of evidence-based communication assessment and intervention, and two days of mealtime and swallowing assessment and management, for residents with diverse clinical presentations.
- Take an active role in the Interdisciplinary Team, contributing to case conferences, care planning and complex clinical decision making for residents with communication, cognitive and swallowing needs.
- Lead or support audits and maintain high quality documentation aligned with professional guidelines and the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards.
- Design and deliver practical education for various stakeholders, including carers, nursing, catering and allied health staff, and students on communication and swallowing safety, strategies and best practice.
Essential criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications in Speech Pathology with full membership from Speech Pathology Australia.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience working as a Speech Pathologist.
- Provide evidence-based communication and swallowing assessment and intervention.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and care planning.
- Contribute to education for clinical and care staff regarding communication and swallowing management.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Aged Care Quality Standards (ACQS) and Regulatory requirements.
- Efficient time management and priority setting skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work well within a team.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work independently.
- Flexibility in travelling between sites as per operational requirements.
