Celebrating Nurse Practitioner Week

Leading, shaping and strengthening care.

Montefiore Nurse Practitioners Natasha and Elain

From December 11th – December 16th, Montefiore is celebrating Nurse Practitioner Week and the wonderful contribution our Nurse Practitioners make to the health and wellbeing of Montefiore’s residents.

Nurse Practitioners are a vital part of the industry-leading clinical care that Montefiore prides itself on. Working across Randwick, Hunters Hill and Woollahra, our Nurse Practitioner team, Natasha, Elain and Jo, provide specialised and personalised services and care, bringing choice, dignity and wellbeing to all residents.

Nurse Practitioners have advanced training in aged care, conducting thorough assessments, including evaluating medical history, physical examinations, ordering diagnostic tests and prescribing treatment. They collaborate with families, GPs, specialists, nursing staff and the Allied Health team here at Montefiore.

This enables a true resident-directed care experience, where residents enjoy working with the same team over time, forming trust and working together towards short and long-term care and wellbeing goals.

“I love discussing with residents and their families their goals of treatment, to reflect the value of Montefiore person-centred care. I love working with my team to support the RNs and other managers addressing their clinical concerns. And I love the smile from the residents when I care for them,” says Elain, Nurse Practitioner.

Nurse Practitioners are also involved in the treatment of health conditions such as infections, wound management, fall management, acute deterioration, palliative care, diabetes, cardiac and respiratory conditions, along with preventative care such as vaccinations.

Above all, they play a vital role in connecting all healthcare services to provide the best quality care to residents. This week, we say an extra special thank you to Natasha, Elain and Jo for the difference they make to the lives of Montefiore’s residents.
