Community

Older people are an integral part of our community, the keepers of our history, heritage and the wisdom of experience.

At Montefiore, we value and nurture those communal connections not just for the wellbeing of our residents, but so all generations can benefit. We welcome all our families, friends and supporters to join us at the Randwick, Hunters Hill and Woollahra Residential Care campuses for special celebrations, Jewish festivals, communal programs and events throughout the year.

Jewish festivals

Friends and family members of residents are invited to celebrate together at all our campuses, from Sukkot teas to Rosh Hashana and Passover Seder dinners where we host more than 800 people. In addition to our Spiritual Dean Rabbi David Rogut OAM, we also welcome visiting rabbis who conduct resident shiurim. Find out more about Jewish life at Montefiore.

Community events

Keep your eye on the News and Events section of our website for the latest happenings, from Jazz and Broadway in the Grounds to Art@Monte panel discussions and the Silver Ribbon Tea Club. All are welcome!

Intergenerational programs

Montefiore works with Sydney Jewish preschools and dayschools including Moriah College, Emanuel School, Emanuel Woollahra Preschool and Kesser Torah College to create special programs that enrich young and old alike. These include Kabbalat Shabbat gatherings, Project History and a shared music listening program.

Community life stories

Inspired by our hugely successful Life Story program pairing Montefiore residents with volunteer biographers, we have now extended this program to honour those who've made an outstanding contribution to the Sydney Jewish community.
